Saturday was my 4th wedding anniversary – four years married to my amazing husband and best friend, who has become such a wonderful father to our two little boys. Our life together is everything I ever wanted for a family of my own, and as our relationship has evolved from boyfriend and girlfriend, to newlyweds, to parents, I’m more sure than ever that this is exactly where I want to be. That he is my person forever. Since I make cakes for every occasion, I decorated this Polkadot Drip Cake for our anniversary.

I made a cherry chocolate chip cake flavored with maraschino cherries and juice, and studded with semi-sweet chocolate chips. To be honest, the cake itself didn’t turn out quite like I planned, which is why I’m not sharing the recipe. The batter went into the oven a pretty pink, but baked up brown, the chocolate chips all sank to the bottom of the pans, and the flavor of the cherries was lost on me. It was still moist, and incredibly tasty, just not my idea of what a cherry cake should be.
The design, though, is exactly what I had envisioned, and I think it’s perfectly lovely with the chocolate chip polka dots contrasting with the pale pink buttercream, drippy ganache, and swirly buttercream rosettes.
Hello, I just came across your site and am wondering if there is an accompanying recipe/tutorial for this “Polkadot Drip Cake”? It is lovely!
